Is this tree too close to my house?

It's a Japanese cherry blossom. It's a lot bigger than it was when we moved in, and starting to worry me a bit. The house was built in 2000 and I think the tree has been there about 10 years. It's 2.3m from the house.

It would be best to know the actual variety so you know the spread. If it’s quite a compact upright one then it’s likely to be fine.

Apparently if the distance is no more than half of the eventual spread, it's fine, so you should be OK. And the blossom will be lovely to look at out of the upstairs window. See here for more detail:

I wouldn’t worry.

It’s not a high water demand tree. Do you know how your house was built or what the ground is like? Probably not. I’d just enjoy the tree.
