Does anyone know if Seaton is a nice place to live? We are thinking of moving there from Derbyshire, two DC so primary school recommendations would help. Thanks

I live nearby and I'm not a fan to be honest - Seaton seems run down. Sidmouth is much nicer

I'm afraid I don't know anything about the primary schools there, but I don't think it's anymore run down than most seaside places. Yes Sidmouth is seen as it's slightly smarter neighbour, but as a result it's also over priced and crowded.

I meet up with friends in Seaton today, we all live in different places across Devon/Dorset and Seaton is somewhere we all love to visit. The main park is fantastic and great for a wide range of ages. The tram is lovely and it has clean public loos!- it does better than Sidmouth there!

Some people see it as a bit of a retirement town and it certainly isn't a bustling hub, but it has more going on than it use to, just depends what you like personally really.

Seaton is a small town and gets very busy in summer. The main road to, well, pretty much anywhere is slow. Lovely place to visit but I probably wouldn't chose to live there.

Seat had really improved last time I visited (few years ago now, so it might have the usual struggles that many market / seaside towns have since the demise of the high street) but It's on the Jurassic coast, it has a lovely playground, it has a little fossil museum. It had some nice cafes. The beach is pebble not sand, and gets deep very quickly, so be careful if paddling with children. I don't know what the primary school is like, but do your research on secondaries. As with all towns there are pockets of deprivation, and research what the healthcare facilities are like in the area.

Can't edit on the app, should be Seaton

I wouldn't choose Seaton to live. It's a long way from anywhere and it's run down. Why this area? I would go for Lyme Regis or Sidmouth. I don't know about primary schools though.

seaton primary school is pretty good. Seaton itself is like many seaside towns with some tired areas, but it’s still a nice place to live. I wouldn’t live in Lyme Regis because it is horrendously busy in the summer (the seagulls are also a massive pain). Sidmouth is lovely, but is much more expensive than seaton. Have you visited Seaton or any other towns on the Jurassic coast?
