New Kitchen

We need to replace our 16 year old kitchen we've had since it was a new build.

Any suggestions for places to look on West/South Yorkshire boundary?

We'd like to totally redesign it as at the moment its a wide room with units down each side. Any ideas / suggestions?

I've attached a (badly drawn) picture of the current layout but could use some help!!

Thanks

Personally I'd go to Wren or Howdens and get them to design the kitchen you want and then go to DIY kitchens in Pontefract and buy the units to match the design. Cheating but very good way to get an excellent quality kitchen however you do need to find a fitter.

totally agree with above poster especially as you live within driving distance of DIY kitchens showroom we got wickes to do the plan then went with DIY and saved £2000 for better quality units

This!

Literally started to write exactly the same thing.

Try Preston’s kitchens. They have showrooms in a number of places in Yorkshire. They do full design service and quality is great. Recently had a new kitchen from them.

Go to all the show rooms and haggle to get the best deal. The builders merchants can knock quite a bit off.

I'm thinking of using the Olive Branch. A friend used them and their kitchen is beautiful.

Or hand made kitchens of Christchurch. They are obviously “based” down south but actually everything is made in Ollerton North Notts.

DIY kitchens will make your design in any colour; we chose a bespoke colour and delighted with the result!

Visited DIY Kitchens showroom today and love the products. They feel much nicer than Wren etc. It's going to be tough deciding on which range to go for!!

Those who used DIY, did you use a kitchen designer or do it yourself?

MKM builders merchants.
The designer there was brilliant and kept reconfiguring until it was everything I wanted.
The units come ready built and are great quality.

@Glenthebattleostrich we did exactly as I suggested; got another company to design the space and then went to DIY kitchens. We did go back to the original company but they couldn't match the price and we could see that DIY was better quality so we went with them.

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/09/2023 17:01

We did DIY recently (Norton, bespoke colour) but there's a fair few freelance designers who work with them.

8misskitty8 · 02/09/2023 20:59

We used DIY kitchens. They have an online planning tool that you can use to place units etc to see what fits. It gives warnings if you have put units too near a door or are too big for a space. You do have to do all room measurements yourself.

Or get somewhere like wrens or howdens out to measure and plan a kitchen then use the design to order from diy kitchens yourself.

We got a luxury kitchen brand to do our design, with the intention of buying from them. But when it came down to it, the quality just wasn't worth the £££ they were asking.

Frosty1000 · 03/09/2023 13:25

We're just buying a DIY one and did it ourselves as we had a good time choosing what to put where.
