What trade do I need?

Discovered this mess in a cupboard we don't use, it's old style ceiling boards in a 1900s house. I just don't know what trade I need to replace just inside the cupboard, is it even doable?

I think you would be hard pushed to get a trades person out to do such a small job tbh, but if you want it to look nice and smooth then a plasterer to re board and plaster, although a competent handyman might be able to do it.

Thank you! I had initially spoke to a handyman and he's quoted £380 from just looking at the pictures.

I guess they want to make it worth their while, maybe contact some plasterers and ask what their day/half day rate is, it might be cheaper but trades tend to prefer whole day jobs rather than 2 or 3 small jobs that are lots of faffing about in a day.
You could try contacting your local college who offer courses, maybe they have students take on small jobs as practice. I’m not sure that they do these days but I know ours did years ago. Worth a try.
