Bathroom build query

I am looking to renovate bathroom, this will include a small "infill" extension on first floor. I have planning permission, and building regs plans approval. I am now looking to get quotes for work, but who do I approach, would it be a builder, or bathroom company, or both? My plan is to invite tenders from interested companies. I also haven't quite decided what fittings etc I want, presumably I need to do this, unless I supply these? I am a newbie to all of this!

We went to a local plumbers merchants that sells a huge range of bathrooms. They helped us with a bathroom design that suited our budget. They also kept a list of recommended plumbers.

One of them on the list ran a general builders company, so has sub contracted some of the specialist work like plastering.

Possibly if we had project manager it ourselves it would have been cheaper, but it's been as stress free as being without a bathroom can be.

I used a general building firm recommended to me by a friend. I ordered the fittings myself, but the builder sourced the tiles I'd chosen, and everything else. If you order things yourself, the builder will tell you when they are needed on site. Mostly it worked well. The tiler was fantastic, but the plumbers left a lot to be desired. Might be worth having a look on Check a Trade / similar, and looking for builders with good reviews of bathroom installations in particular?
