Packing services

We're in the beginning stages of the whole moving process but thinking ahead we were planning on using a packing service for the first time. Do they always pack the day before? I'm just thinking of logistics as we have an autistic DS and I don't think he'll cope well with his room being completely packed up a night early (the move will be hard enough on him).

Has anyone got any experiences with a packing service that packed some things the morning of the move?

Thanks

They don't pack your bed until the morning.

I would seriously think about your dc staying with someone for a couple of days while you move, or at least having someone take them out for the day of packing.

The guys work very fast and you have to stay out of their way.

I wouldn't move without a packing service though.

I moved 7 weeks ago and had a packing service. They arrived the day before the move and did loads, I stuck stickers on things not to be packed. Move day they finished off packing and had the van loaded by 11am, all moved in by 2pm. I told them that I did not want to lift a finger (Recent bereavement and getting a divorce so brain fried) so I went for the day and left them to pack - just left biscuits and tea and coffee. 100% worth the extra cost.

It’s so worth the cost. And if your explain the your wishes to the Removals company from the outset, I’m sure they will be happy to leave packing your son’s room to the day you move.

Arrived three days before to start and was glad they did, DC and I camped out at grandparents with a case each and was fine !

Thanks all that sounds promising. I think I'll contact a few when things are a bit further along. We definitely have a lot of stuff and it would be so much nicer to not have to pack it ourselves 😂

Absolutely - it makes the moving process much easier if you have lots of stuff

I'd thoroughly recommend it - saved loads of stress on the day. They are like a hoard of locusts though - hide / move anything you don't want packing before they arrive, otherwise it will end up in a crate.
However, don't use it as an excuse not to declutter beforehand. We spent weeks (on & off) selling, throwing & giving stuff away & still had unopened boxes in the spare room a year after we moved to this house.

No way would I ever move without a packing service. They're bloody brilliant and know exactly what they're doing. Also unpacking at the other end. It's a godsend.
