Rickmansworth vs Woking

We are a mixed race family currently living in north west London looking to move out for more space. We have narrowed our search down to Rickmansworth and Woking. Would really appreciate if anybody could tell me more about the areas. In particular:

  1. Schools (primary) - Rickmansworth (We like the look of Arnetts Hill and Rickmansworth park). Haven’t looked much in to schools in Woking (like the look of Horsell junior school)
  2. Community - Is there a community feel? That’s what we are not liking about London it feels very isolating
  3. Diversity- are the areas diverse enough?
  4. We want an area with lots of young families like us which better suits this? Walking around Rickmansworth felt like it had more older people (60+)
  5. What is the Woking to Waterloo train like - how frequent are the trains

Thank you any advice would be appreciated!!

I lived in Woking for 3 years before I got married. I can’t comment on the schools as my daughter wasn’t born at that point! A few friends at work had children at the Primary in West Byfleet and they really rated it. I lived in Goldsworth Park near the lake and that did feel like it had more a community feel with many families and lots going on. Woking town was on the tired side when I was there (4 years ago) but there were in the middle of a big town redevelopment so it’s likely changed a lot.

I would say it benefits from a very diverse population and there was a direct train to Waterloo every 11 minutes in the mornings and evenings and then a stopping service every half hour.

Thank you again for all your replies. Can anybody give any advice on the primary schools in Woking?

Also I was having a look at houses in Chesham and it appears to be much cheaper than Rickmansworth. Is this a nice area with young families?

😀
