Multiple Dwellings relief

Hi all,

We are currently considering a property where the owner has converted the garage into a self contained studio with a shower room, kitchen sink and stove. If we were to purchase this property, would it qualify for multiple dwellings relief? Wondering if anyone can help with this?

Is it a single freehold? Or multiple freeholds/leaseholds?

Tbh, given your query relates to a specific property that you are actually considering buying - this is exactly the sort of thing your conveyancing solicitor is employed to sort out for you.

I have seen HMRC investigating lots of these claims recently so you need proper advice

But if it qualified for this, wouldn't you be also looking at 2 lots of council tax?
