Looking for the most Authentic Looking Electric Fire… Anyone Happy with theirs?

Just moved into a modern house that has no fireplace. Having lived in older houses, I feel that in at least one room, I need a focal point.

I have UF heating, so it’ll be used mainly for its look than it’s heating ability.

I haven’t decided if it’s going to be part of a media wall or a more traditional fireplace, but I’m struggling to ascertain what the flame effects look like IRL.

I have plugs in the right places… so needs to be electric.

There also seems to be a HUGE difference in price. I’m willing to pay if it looks as authentic as possible.

After all, I’ll be looking at the thing all winter!

We have one like this. Ours is an older model but looks very similar. We actually never use the heat function, only the flickering flame effect for making the room feel cosy.

In my opinion they all look awful. What about a little Everhot stove? No flame effect, but super cute.

We are having a gas fire fitted in one room and this electric in the other and we do love it, I wasn’t keen on electric fires but like this one

We searched for ages and dimplex optimyst was the best we could find. Can get in different styles

Dimplex Dakota here. Makes you feel warm just looking at it. We rarely use the heat settings but are very effective when you do. Bought to replace ancient gas fire.

I hate electric fires but we had to have one (other options not viable) Like other posters, we plumped for a Dimplex Optimyst. I can’t remember what model we have as it was a few years ago now but it’s surprisingly realistic and definitely makes the room feel cosier. I’d recommend finding a fireplace showroom near you and checking out all the options.

Again - Dimplex Optimyst had one for 10 yrs - log burner style but some of the other styles are fab too 🙏🏽☘️👍🏿

I went to my local fire ‘place’ today to see what they offer; they stocked several of the New Forest fire models. They are definitely a cut above the rest, but so is the price

@TeaAndStrumpets - I’m between a rock and a hard place on this one - but I get your sentiment entirely 😉. I had no idea that Everhot did those cute stoves. They’re not big enough sadly and i do really want something glowing if I can… but the Barbie pink version…😍… GORGEOUS.

We've got an ethanol le feu fire. You just put the liquid in and it burns for about four hours. Has a flame and does give off some heat. Initially there used to be a slight smell but that disappears quickly. We got it because I couldn't find an electric fire I liked.

Hey, we also got a British Fires New Forest 1200. Looks so much more realistic than others had seen in b and q.

Had seen some good reviews online and it was recommended to get it with the deluxe real logs, which we did - worth spending extra money.

Only thing would change would have been to go for a bigger size.
