I've had a few quotes to paint a 2 bed flat including paint work etc. first quote is 2.5k including wood work. Seems a bit high to me. Is this normal?

Sounds high to me!
We are about to pay £130 a day (yes, I know, never arrange a trade with a day rate, but he is excellent, and we trust him) plus we buy the paint.

It took him 12 days to paint our 4 bed (he estimated 10, but it was a bit of a nightmare job that just ate paint).

So, assuming the day rate is higher, but the time is shorter - say 7 days at 200, thats 1500. Plus paint.....

Definitely get other quotes.

How many rooms are there? I am in the South East and decorators charge £175 - £200 per day. Is he supplying any materials.

Thank you. We are in London . The quote includes normal trade paid and all materials

Well, presumably that is 2 beds, bathroom, kitchen, living room, and hallway ?
Does it include all prep ? (the time consuming work)
You are paying for materials.
Presumably the trades have to cover paying for driving in London these days (adds up, each day).
Is it furnished ? Are they having to move / work round furniture ?

I mean, I would ALWAYS get more than one quote for a job unless it was someone that had done a lot of work for me before and I knew they were competitively priced, but I am not surprised by it adding up to that sort of figure.

i think it is reasonable f it includes material

Depends on the extent of the woodwork imo. For just walls it’s probably too much but woodwork can be very time consuming.
