bathroom door shattered during installation - can i make any claim?

Our bathroom fitter just called to say he broke the shower door during installation. He asked us to deduct it from his fee but i dont want to take money from him. He is a lovely guy and it may not be his fault. He mentioned that the door broke because it couldnt fit the tray and he was trying too hard. Could i ask for a refund or make a claim on the product guarantee? its a set from Victoria Plumbing. Any advice on how i should bring this up with customer service? thanks

I think this will depend on who your contract is with. If I understand correctly, you appear to have purchased from entity 1, then entity 2 is fitting it. This is either because you paid entity 1 to supply and fit, or because you engaged entity 2 to install. My guess is the former. Then it depends on whether the fitter is employed directly or is a sub contractor.

Then it's a question of whether either of them are insured. It sounds like someone somewhere will need to claim on their insurance, just not you.

Nothing is ever simple I'm afraid.
