If so, which colour did you choose? And are you happy with the result, or do you regret it?

My friend did, looks amazing still 3 year on,she used French Chic paint. Lots of FB sites about it.

I did during covid in my old house. The door was awful as a front door, it was a back door really, and we were planning on loving so i didnt want to spend a fortune on a new door.

i went for french chic smudge. We moved two and a half years ago and the new people havent changed it and it still looks good.

if i was stil there if have changed the colour to a dark blue or dusky pink by now. But that is simp’e to do.

We had our windows and doors professionally sprayed last year and I love it!

We had a company in to spray it. They colour matched a farrow and ball colour for us. I love it.

I have been looking at the Rustoleum colours and trying to decide. I might try painting the inside of the doors first, and see how it goes!

My neighbours had their Professionally sprayed, looks lovely.

I'd always worry about the longevity of it but if its just the door you're doing it's easy enough to recoat every few tears.

I did mine last year and I love it, I just got some paint from B&Q. I can't remember the exact colour, but you can see the picture attached. (NB, it was white before)

I did a similar colour to the pic above, I think it was Rustoleum paint. And spray painted the 'gold' handle and letterbox black.

I did it myself using the frenchic alfresco range. Looks great and don't regret it all.

I did mine in 2020 as per pics. From ubiquitous bleh green to bright pink. Used Rustoleum Combicolour paint which was very affordable and went on like a dream.

Still looking great 3 years later but now, thanks to this thread, I'm thinking I might fancy another change 🤔

Did it last week - painted the back door and window black matt with "The one paint" . So far looking amazing. Was easier than I thought. Anyone thinking about it - DO IT !!!

Exibstudent · 23/08/2023 00:06

Yep, did it in frenchic two years ago. Looks good, but will probably refresh next year.
Picked a limited edition mermaid green colour

I did mine last year - it’d been painted with black gloss (badly!) by one of the previous owners.

It took a lot of sanding to remove all the awful gloops, runs and brush grooves so took 3 days in total.

I used a Valspar paint specifically for outdoors. I will eventually paint the garage door which has also been glossed black really badly 😖 but I need to get the orbital sander out to prep it so I’m not relishing that!

A tip to prevent the doorframe draught excluder strip from sticking to the painted door and pulling paint off is to smear a little Vaseline over the strip.
