KITCHEN DOORS, HELP!!!

We live in a rented property and want to put our own style on our rooms... we are wanting to tackle the kitchen but struggling with how we can update and modernise the kitchen doors. We looked at replacing all the door fronts but it's too expensive 😭 .

We planned on either painting the actual doors white or vinyl them but the door handles are proving extremely difficult to find a solution to. We HATE the wooden bar at the bottom of the door and the divvet for the handle.

If we were to remove just that bottom wooden bit we would have to put another piece of wood to replace it else it leaves a gap. Which again is costly and we are on a tight budget.

Any ideas or suggestions...

I would put vinyl just above the wood over the ugly main part of the door. White. Once you have done that, it will fit a bit more and you will probably hate it a bit less.

I wouldn't paint a LL's door: it is not yours and you cannot reverse it. Best not risk some arsehole taking your whole deposit when you leave you replace 'doors you ruined like for like.' Even if it is a nasty throwback from the 80s, if it's not as first found, they can still take your money.

It's a rented house.
Be very careful about doing anything that isn't easily reversible, or you risk loosing your deposit, along with the money you've spent.

I'd work on other parts of the house, and lump the kitchen cupboards for now.

How long are you planning on staying there? Unless it's very long term I'd say learn to live with it, especially given you're on a tight budget. Add some pics and keep it clean and tidy, you'll soon not notice when you've ben there a while.
