I could see Dolores Umbridge being very happy there

lljkk · 19/08/2023 17:46

What is the dead thing on wall, is that a cow?
The blue carpet doesn't (colours) match the geometric wallpaper. that's the only thing I might find difficult, because both are quality items & I'd have to choose which to replace. Probably the wallpaper.

Imagine the place without all their stuff. It's probably just their stuff you don't like, and I doubt they are including their stuff in the sale. Small house lots of character. That's cool. No pics of the courtyard at all, though??

It looks like a Hog / pig skin

BreehyHinnyBrinnyHoohyHah · 19/08/2023 17:48

I love it! Much better than grey walls, grey carpets, crushed grey velvet sofas, with grey bedrooms, grey bathrooms, and the odd plastic plant. All enclosed in a house with white render and grey windows and doors.

hdbs17 · 19/08/2023 17:52

It's certainly eclectic, but it's well done.

lto2019 · 19/08/2023 17:53

Not as poor taste as making a thread on an internet forum to slag off someone's house

CoparentingDad · 19/08/2023 17:54

I reckon it was Tyson Fury's house before he had money

TetrapanaxRex · 19/08/2023 17:56

Shame about those hideous public toilet tiles in the bathroom. Metro tiles I think they are called.

Gemini202 · 19/08/2023 17:58

It’s maybe not charming but it’s eccentric and unique. To me that’s better than boring.

Exactly this! OP can you post some pictures of where you live so that we can comment?

Who actually would choose to decorate their house like that???
@Bringonthesunforthewashing Well clearly the people that own the house that has been advertised. Not sure why your comment needs 3 question marks.

Not everyone wants to live in a dreary, grey box.

Gatekeeper · 19/08/2023 17:25

Just because its not to your taste doesnt mean its poor taste

Normally I'd agree with you but this is the very definition of bad taste!

EnjoythemoneyJane · 19/08/2023 18:00

Well the people who live there obviously love it, and at least it shows a bit of care and effort and individuality even if it’s not to your taste.

It’s not like they’ll be leaving all their stuff in it once it’s sold - all it’ll take is a neutral carpet, a splash of greige paint and a trip to IKEA to quieten the palpitations and make it look reassuringly like every other house you’ve ever seen.

ElephantExpedition · 19/08/2023 18:02

My eyes. Why the hell would you want rugs in your kitchen?

DappledThings · 19/08/2023 18:03

I like it too. It's certainly bold and I wouldn't keep all of it as it is if I bought it but I'd take that over a grey/white/magnolia/ box of tediousness

continentallentil · 19/08/2023 18:05

It’s rather splendid

pumpkintits · 19/08/2023 18:06

I love the bathroom (minus the curtains!)

It's a bit busy but I don't see how it's "freaky"

Beelezebub · 19/08/2023 18:06

I like it. But I’d only buy it if it came fully furnished.

IaltagDhubh · 19/08/2023 18:09

Well it’s certainly different. I’m not a fan of the dark coloured carpets that show up the hoover lines and shoe prints. It’ll be expensive to replace those with something more practical and less depressing. But I’m more concerned about how someone would clean the bathroom. The stuffed giraffe head just above the toilet and the long curtains on the floor right by the u bend can’t be too hygienic.

I think they've just chucked a throw over a gaming teenager ...

Haha! I thought the exact same thing!

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 19/08/2023 18:18

I don't hate it, actually.

I wouldn't have it but it's certainly got more personality than my house.

BasiliskStare · 19/08/2023 18:18

Oh all these houses if the vendor takes all their curtains / furniture etc then all you are left with is redecorating. Which you would probably have to do if the whole thing was magnolia. As long as survey says boiler / electrics etc all good - the current decor wouldn't bother me an ounce.

Dfg15 · 19/08/2023 18:19

Some of it is photoshopped surely, or some sort of art app, it doesn't look real?

SpamFrittersYouSay · 19/08/2023 18:19

It's a lot better than grey and diamante.

ClematisBlue49 · 19/08/2023 18:19

Personally I hate everything about it, but they've certainly put a lot of effort and creativity into it. Possibly they had not planned to sell so soon. I daresay it will put a lot of potential buyers off, which is a shame as it looks like a nice house.
