Simple CCTV camera linked to iPhone - recommendations?

I'm just looking at some CCTV Cameras as we want just one simple model for our Garage that looks down our driveway for security.

There looks like there are lots of models to choose from now but just wanted anyone's advice before I dive in, buy and put one up.
I don't have a large budget, and one camera would suffice outside our home, So any help or advice would be greatly appreciated:

So just a couple of simple questions really, do these Cameras need WI-FI to work? I'm not sure how strong the signal is over our garage to pick up our homes' WIFI?
And are these motion activated, and can they be linked to your iPhone? so that you get an alert whenever there is movement as well as it recording?

Any help would be great, as I'm just looking at something simple to record but also look the part for our security.

We use Blink from Amazon. They do need WiFi but seem to pick it up quite well through walls etc. They use AA Lithium batteries which last many months, ours well over a year so far. They connect to an App on your smartphone and work well. Pretty simple to install, needing 1 screw to mount onto brick or wood fence.
Sometimes Amazon have a sale on or you could pick one up on eBay. There's not much that can go wrong with them.

Thanks MN164!

I did look at Blink, and they look very well priced for what I need, but it turns out the Outdoor Weatherproof ones were much more expensive?

Not sure which model / outdoor one you purchased?

I guess as the Garage is away from the house, the Wi-Fi could be an issue, so could mains AC power, so either 4G maybe better and Battery Operated?

The Garage is sort of in the driveway/garden so a few metres from the house.

I don't necessarily need Night Vision, or swivel action so a static camera is fine.
Also 720p is more than enough for the ground I need it to cover, maybe even b/w might be ok?

So I'm not sure if the above would mean that I could get a cheaper camera (outdoor) for what I need as I don't want to spend too much

Thanks!

I also use blink, I have a small outdoor one it’s just a tiny basic one no extra features. Nout wrong with it and I think it was fairly cheap although I got it work my doorbell.

Thanks. Do the Blink ones (the tiny black one I'm guessing) are ok with wifi and use battery so there's no mains power (I don't have access)

And easy to set up with an App?

Also does this need some sort of subscription every month in order to view or record on it?

Yes battery and wifi. Blink app. You do but it’s like £2.50 a month or something after a free trial. If you go on Amazon and have a look it explains it all.

We use Ring cameras. Find them great. You do pay monthly, thank £2-3? I paid yearly so can't remember.

We have Blink too, as well as a doorbell. Loads of second hand ones on ebay

We use eufy doorbell and cameras very good and no subscription, we've since added an alarm set up. Amazon usually have really good offers around black Friday/cyber Monday

I have Arlo cameras, they do well on the wifi even from the garden. The app is easy to use from your phone and you get an alert for any movement and can watch live if you like.
