We are in the process of buying our 1st home. Can someone tell me what we need, like we need contents insurance and building insurance but what else do we need?

I think you need to reframe your question as you’re not being specific enough. Asking “what else do we need” could result in about a million different responses. What do you really want to know?

Things like do we need any other kind of insurance. There is a boiler I have seen adverts which you pay monthly for boiler cover is that needed?

Well you don’t need boiler cover but you might decide to get it. You can get other types of insurance like home emergency, accidental damage, drainage cover etc.

You need to get quotes and then decide if it’s something you want to purchase or not.

If you are using a mortgage to buy the property the Lender will insist on buildings insurance only - the rest is completely up to you.
