Kitchen recommendation

Could someone recommend a fitted kitchen please? I have been looking at IKEA, it seems like good value for money but no experience with them!

I can't comment on IKEA but for heavens sake, do not go to Wickes. They are truly awful. Much of the kitchen arrived damaged, the fitters they use are horrendous and all in all it took 3 months to fit a kitchen that should've taken no more than a couple of weeks!

we have bought two Homebase kitchens, very happy with them, delivered quickly, no damaged items, was fitted by our plumber. Ask for local fitter recommendations OP.

Avoid WREN, beautiful kitchens but shocking after sales, which is important as they only rarely manage to send the complete kitchen the first time.

IKEA kitchens are good for lots of choices & combinations, but are much more hassle to fit (so time if you're doing it money if you're using a fitter) because they don't have a service void (lots of work involved in cutting for pipe work etc. much more room inside though if you have lots of wall without pipe work.

DIY kitchen are great value for the quality & if you can get to their showroom it's fab.

I like our IKEA kitchen, but took ages for us to fit, not helped by lack of service void.
The drawers are particularly robust, better than other kitchens at similar price poibt.
Knobs looked cheap or impractical or both, so we bought those elsewhere. Also worktops from somewhere else.

Find a good kitchen fitter first. Recommended by others or try check a trade. Get said kitchen fitter to buy your kitchen through Howdens. They will get it for trade prices. Good quality too

Tryingtomoveisdrivingmecrazy · 18/08/2023 13:32

My kitchen is from Howdens and I am very pleased with it

DIY Kitchens are great. https://diy-kitchens.com/ Good quality and really good price. There is a Facebook group called 'DIY Kitchens - Design and Planning Forum and Finished Kitchen Reviews - UK' that is very informative.

Another endorsement for DIY Kitchens mine is two year od and looks like a brand new kitchen and was £2000 cheaper than Wickes , and a good fitter is important

We have just fitted a new IKEA kitchen Agree that they can be difficult to fit but my DH has carpentry skills and can cope (albeit with a lot of ranting) Its not helped by our old house which doesn't have any straight walls.

The kitchen we removed was also an IKEA and it was fitted 20 yrs ago. All the pullots etc still worked perfectly and apart from a bit of foil wrap peeling (my fault for using a steam cleaner on it) on the sink unit it still looked OK but we were changing the location of the kitchen and it was the old Faktum kitchen not the the METOD that they sell now

I am really pleased with the finished result and the price was very reasonalble

We had a lovely Wickes kitchen at our old house - no problems with delivery, kitchen designer was better than other companies. It was fitted by our own builder rather than Wickes though.

New house we have a Howdens one which we love. Again, fitted by our builder and it's a big kitchen but was reasonably priced. Less keen on their designer though.

But designers will vary between stores!

(9) Kitchen Comparison Price & Quality - Wren DIY Kitchens Howdens Magnet Wickes Review #kitchen - YouTube

I'd say watch this as a starting point.

This guy is a project manager and has compared the exact same kitchen bought from five well known manufacturers. He compared packaging, delivery, quality, fittings etc.

DIY-Kitchens came out on top on most categories. The only downside is that they don't offer a planning service, but my husband managed to use their planning tool without any difficulties.
