Steel framed houses

Found an amazing home but now discovered it is steel framed... Not sure when it was built but it seems like a lot of insurers and mortgage companies don't like them because of potentially massive issues down the line.

Anytime want experience/advise please?!

It will depend on the type of house it is. I own a dorlonco steel framed house built late 1920s to early 1930s in my village, mine is approx 1931 built. I had no problem at all getting a mortgage or insurance for it and neither have my immediate neighbours. However I know that the 1970s built steel framed house in a nearby city are very hard to mortgage and when for sale are normally advertised as cash buyers only.

Thanks very much for your replies 😊

Spoke to the (very moody) estate agent today and the steelwork was done in 1966 so no idea really!

Were building regs a thing then?!

the next buyer will face the same issue when you sell the house
