Hi all :)

About to buy a property (first decent one… slightly terrified by interest rates but that’s another story).

I remember an amazing thread on MN about the best little things you added to your homes, like clever drawers in the kitchen.

does anyone remember that thread? I can’t find it anywhere!!

and if you have any tips for features in your home that have made your life better please share!!

We had a movement sensor installed in the bathroom so that 2 small spotlights come on if anybody goes into the bathroom when the natural light in the bathroom is below a pre set level . They stay on for approx 40 secs after leaving the bathroom.
I love it. No need to bother finding a lightswitch in the dark or at night. I often don't bother with the bathroom lights now. Love a shower in low light, very relaxing.
Also just had a Fohen 3:1 tap fitted in the kitchen. Great not bothering with a kettle.

Movement sensor on landing lights. Similar to above, not looking for light when nipping to loo and Lights come on automatically at night when we walk up the stairs to go up to bed.

I'm a big fan of a smart home. Smart plugs to turn on (and more importantly, off) electric wax warmers. Smart bulbs to turn lamps on at sunset and off at midnight. I'd love smart blinds too but they are £££.

Under stairs push out drawers. Best thing ever for us with a very small hallway and it hides all the shoes. Oh and a pull out bin for the kitchen. It makes me far happier than a pull out bin should.

A toilet with a sink over the cistern in our tiny WC.

Putting velux in at top of stairs and in small dark bathroom. Lifts my mood!
