Sick of Virgin. Anyone with Plusnet? (East London)

Hi, we have been with Virgin for over 3 years and they have been mostly fine, however they have become increasingly expensive and the service hasn't been so good. We are on 250 Mb and the cheapest they can do is £40 to renew our contract. I want the least amount of hassle so I'm tempted to just renew, however DP is saying we should switch to someone else and pay a more competitive price for possibly better service.

Probably a stupid question but how easy is to switch if you've only ever been with Virgin. I mean - will a new provider need to install a new line etc?

And can people recommend a good, reliable provider in London?

I'm thinking Plusnet, Community Fibre ... etc?

Thanks in advance x

We switched from Virgin to Community Fibre and have had far fewer issues.

Sadly just found out that Community Fiber is not available (yet) in our area :(

I would have loved to go with them ...

My daughter is with Plusnet & says they’re very good (North London)

I was with Plusnet and the wifi didn't reach all the bedroom (North London 1930s semi with solid walls) and it was rather slow. Adult DCs complained all the time. Switched to Sky and it's been brilliant fast and good coverage throughout the whole house.

If you really need 250Mbit P/S you'll be unlikely to get it on a ADSL connection, (which is what Sky, Plusnet, BT etc) usually use.

You'll need cable (i.e. Virgin) or fibre into your home (i.e. Community fibre, or BT full).

So far as Wifi, penetration / range, you might want top consider getting your own Router, the supplied ones are usually a bit limited. EG Synology RT2600ac Having your own router also has the advantage that you don't need to change it each time you change your supplier.
