Hello All,

My mortgage offer stated I need to have a home insurance at exchange, which I have taken. Do I have to share this insurance with anyone eg: solicitor/mortgage lender etc. Please advise.

Your conveyancer would probably ask to see it.

Thanks, would this be before completion?

Sorry - I missed this. Usually on completion, (so in place before) - but ask them. Basically if the mortgage company is lending you money - the minute the money is paid to the vendor and the house is in your name - the lender is at risk. If the house were to burn down they'd lose their security, (and I doubt you'd be able to pay them back the ££££££ you'd borrowed)

And if the house did burn down and the insurance was in place the insurer wouldn't pay you, they'd pay the mortgage company.
