Buyers asking for £60k off just before exchange

Just as the header says. Suddenly wrote us a long letter ranting about interest rates etc, and asking for a huge discount.

We live in an area where property is scarce and holding its value ATM due to that. Told agent to tell them where to go. I am furious as we will lose our dream home.

Do a sneaky... ask for all survey results under the guise of looking them over to see what you can do with regards to the price... then tell them no to the 60k or to f-off, whichever takes your fancy :)

I see that as a win-win. You're not planning on bending over, so if you get free survey results out of it, win. If after they send them (if they do), you tell them no to the 60k, and they STILL accept the offer, win :).

This happened to me today (not such a large amount). At 10.30 I said absolutely not.
By 5 they'd come back to agree. I'm not in a chain so I said I wasn't bothered.

Absolutely. Husband doesn't want to leave them any paperwork, or label the keys of that happens.

Yep. Our buyers were such naive arseholes - to the point they didn’t want to complete on the day that best suited everyone else is the chain as they couldn’t actually move in for a few days and “didn’t want to be paying for a house they weren’t living in”, when they were living with family and were the bottom of the chain. They made the whole thing so insanely stressful for the last few days they were bloody lucky I even ran the hoover round. And to think I was original going to leaver our buyers a welcome pack and helpful notes!!

At the end of the day if they want their commission they have a VI in closing the deal.
