Where did you did you get your sofa?

We are currently waiting for our new house to be finished being built, and really need to get ordering a sofa but feel I've left it too late as we just had our second DC last week. Now I'm worried we will be sitting on deck chairs when we move in😂

Where did you get your sofa? And how long did you have to wait?

Possibly moving in within the next 4-6 weeks maybe 8 week's maximum.

Thank you!

Excuse the typo in the subject field. Currently feeding our newborn ... exhausted 😴

We got ours from sofa.com as we chose one the fabrics/colour that is usually in stock waited about a week or so, that was eight years ago though so not sure if that option is still available.
I think JL/next/ possibly M&S have some sofas for quick delivery not certain if DFS also has that option.
congratulations on the birth of new baby.

I presume you are not near an Ikea? I got a fabulous one from them. Very comfortable. And you can wash the covers.

loyganroyal · 07/08/2023 19:28

Best kept secret - if you like an M and S or Next sofa, you can order it half price here. You have to go to Stoke on Trent to order but so so worth it. We have the M and S Rochester range https://www.westbridgefurniturestoke.co.uk/ find them on insta too, they’re good at replying.

@justanothermanicmonday1 We bought ours from sofa.com last August. Got a notification 5 days later to say I could book my delivery slot 😊 could have had it a week later but we delayed until the end of Sept when our painting etc was finished instead.

Would highly recommend. Sofa & chair already very well used but still look like new (even with a toddler!) 😊 and they’re super comfy 😊

Shrinkingviolet6 · 07/08/2023 19:34

We got ours from Next Home - the shade we originally wanted was 8-12 week wait but if we wanted to go one shade lighter (very little difference) we could get it in 4 days so it was a no-brainer really.

PerspiringElizabeth · 07/08/2023 19:36

Snug but I don’t recommend. Their customer care is shit but I think that’s because we are customers from before they went into administration and were bought.

supermamio · 07/08/2023 19:38

Current sofa is from costco. Went in paid and took it home same day, no idea what their delivery times are.

foodtoorder · 07/08/2023 19:39

We stupidly bought from dfs.
Ordered last October and arrived in late feb after many many delivery dates made and cancelled.
The icing on the cake was waiting another month for a part of the suite that hadn't even been made at the time the others were delivered.
We paid the extra for the memory foam type cushions that a meant to last and still waiting for a replacement as they filled with the standard foam.
Would not recommend.
Complaints process is diabolical. Fobbed of from day to day, week to week.

Member589500 · 07/08/2023 19:40

I ended up with one from Furniture Village.
It only took 3 weeks. Corner sofa in plain fabric. Am pleased with it.

Iwantmybed · 07/08/2023 19:42

A furniture warehouse in Bolton called Alecs 3 piece suites. They delivered in about 3 days.

NWSeller · 07/08/2023 19:44

British Heart Foundation. £200 including delivery. great condition, delivered in 2 days.

LateMumma · 07/08/2023 19:58

Next, fortunately it was one of the ones they carry in stock so was with us in days

Blarn · 07/08/2023 20:01

Ikea. We had our first one for about 12 years, took it apart and put it back together twice for two house moves. Now on our second Ikea one. Find them to be really good quality and you don't need to wait for it to be made.

AHugeTinyMistake · 07/08/2023 20:03

DFS

It did take ages to be delivered, about 12 weeks from memory. But we've had it over 10 years now and it's lasted really well, came with an extra set of covers too.

flummingbird · 07/08/2023 20:08

We have a local sofa "seconds" shop. Mine is an oak furniture land ex display, perfect condition, got it for £200 instead of £1000+ and delivered the next day. Worth looking around for somewhere like that!

APurpleSquirrel · 07/08/2023 20:24

We've just ordered one from DFS - they said it should take about 5 weeks - hoping that's the case.
However, they did have ones in their clearance section with immediate delivery available.

fizzyfood · 07/08/2023 20:27

DFS and really happy with it

Comfy but I wish I'd bought the wipeable fabric!

We bought a 4 seater from Darlings of Chelsea which collapsed in the middle after about 6 months. Heavy sofa, poorly made I guess. Link here but wouldn't recommend. https://www.darlingsofchelsea.co.uk/galloway-large-sofa-pview?cc=green&gclid=Cj0KCQjwrMKmBhCJARIsAHuEAPSMZlsUbrr7ShtJ73ESEM8AzTIOHmgrQeMZ5tUkXbLPUbfdrrXGxTIaAhquEALw_wcB

Tryingtomoveisdrivingmecrazy · 07/08/2023 20:41

Another vote for Ikea here. We have been really happy with our sofas, they are really comfy and have been able to buy new covers when we wanted a change and they were delivered within a few days

geminiflanagan · 07/08/2023 20:49

Another IKEA. Can't remember the name, but it is modular and we got the duck egg green covers. Washable covers which do actually wash really well. We ordered on a Sat and it was delivered on the Tues. Did take a while to put together but v comfy considering we didn't sit on it before ordering!

Heyhoherewegoagain · 07/08/2023 20:52

We got a couple of great ones from ikea about 8 years ago-still going strong and looking good
