Kitchen & bathroom flooring on a budget

Has anyone successfully replaced their bathroom and kitchen flooring on a budget and been happy with the result? Either diy or had a company in to do it?

If you replaced it yourself what did you use and where from, or if you had someone do it for you then who did it?

How big is the space?
Would a roll end of vinyl be big enough? It's pretty easy to lay with a sharp knife. You might just need to visit several times to get a pattern you are happy with
