Glass pergola or verandas?

we’ve got a small (2m x 2m) area between our rear extension and the neighbours full width extension. Image below (blue is us). Currently it’s a bit of a dead space and a bit sad. We’re considering adding a pergola with a glass top so it can be used more as a seating area and we can hang lights or faux leaves on the neighbor side (without attaching to the wall). Has anyone else done this?

or if you have a similar dead space what did you do with it? We used to get a lot more light in the morning before their extension.

Good idea, you can put washing under it if it’s raining

That’s part of the plan.

not sure how to go about it or if we should just go for a conservatory instead

Do it have windows, and to which rooms? Will you extend over it in future (so is a temporary solution)?

there’s a sliding door which opens from the living room to the ‘dead space’. We considered making it a small outdoor sitting area but without a cover/ roof it’s too much faff to get furniture covers and there’s no space to store furniture in the garden.

No intention to extend, unless the cost difference is very low or similar to a veranda/ covered pergola
