looking at getting an internal door to my garage via my hallway in a few months, garage is part of house but can only be entered via the outside garage door

ive been told by a friend it should only take 2 days and shouldnt cost more than £1000, does that seem right?

also what can i do with the garage door? is there way to permanately/securely shut it off so it cant be used?

I think such a door between house and garage has to be a firedoor and should have a deadlock. Also for better security, have it open inwards to the garage.

I don't know why you'd want get rid of the garage door proper. Apart from anything else it no longer qualifies as a garage and you'll lose value. You can lock most garages with keys.

Your house sounds like my house as I have an integral garage and was thinking of doing the same thing, adding an internal door in the hallway to the garage. I never got a quote but £1000 seems too low to me. If I had had the work done, I would have kept the garage door as I like to keep my car in there sometimes. Some of my neighbours have had that work done but they have converted their garage into another room.
