Moving to London

Hi, we are a family of two dads and a little 4yo boy. We live in west London in a predominantly Asian area where we now feel a bit cut out culturally. Being same sex I also fear our son might encounter some resistance by some of his classmates families. We are looking at moving but I am rather overwhelmed. We would love a three bed house and our budget is around £650k. Ideally in west/south west London but open to possibilities, as long as it is an easy commute into central London, especially at night as my husband finishes work around midnight and needs to come back. Any suggestions? Thanks 😊

Do you intend to send your son to state, private or grammar school?

They're a bit further out but well connected...
Surbiton? Sutton? Hackbridge?

Definitely state school. He is only 4 bless him, so don’t know about after primary school yet. I looked at Surbiton and Sutton, just not sure how easy of a commute it is after midnight? 🙏🏻

Ealing? Acton?

Thats definitely doable around Seven Sisters/South Tottenham, and there are lots of families like yours here, although it's the opposite side of London to you now. Also transport wise, Seven Sisters tube to central London is v quick.

Agree with pp - South Tottenham or poss Wood Green would work with your budget and are very family friendly, well connected and diverse. Quite a different feel from where you are now but worth looking at.

I used to live in Surbiton and I think the last train back from Waterloo was after midnight, closer to 1am. There is a night is from Piccadilly as well. Not the cheapest of places to live but it's well connected, lots of green space, decent high street and loads of families :-)
