Electric tests - needed?

We are in the process of purchasing our first flat and within the survey report we had done, it states that ‘all electrical installations are to be checked by an NICEIC electrical engineer.’

The last electric testing was done 8.5 years ago - it is not required for the seller to do this, but should we ask for it considering the statement above?

Thank you.

You can ask, they could say yes or no. Every survey I've ever had had recommended electric and gas checks, I think it's standard.

This. Standard catch all. We couldn’t inspect xyz so we’d recommend you get a professional to give you an opinion. For me not worth it unless there are some very obvious and worrying signs / the property is seriously unloved.
