Hello. So I'm meant to be completing today. Keys were dropped of yesterday by seller. We are going from renting to buying and the seller has already moved out into renting. Still had no call and sellers solicitor has been a pain in the arse throughout the whole thing. Is it normal to wait this long it's now 14:20. Thanks

Have you rung the Estate Agent? What does your solicitor say?

LividHot · 25/07/2023 14:31

Yep, it's normally 2pm isn't it when there's a chain, so no idea why you're still waiting.

sunshinesupermum · 25/07/2023 14:32

Yes.

Karmatime · 25/07/2023 14:34

My solicitor rang me when we completed and I called the estate agent who confirmed they had the keys ready for us. This was at 1030am - no chain either side.

You usually pick keys up from seller’s estate agent. You could go there and ask.

Aposterhasnoname · 25/07/2023 14:38

Funnily enough I was just talking to DH about this. Twenty years ago today we moved into our house, and at this very moment we were sat in a car park, with the dog in the back seat waiting for the bank to press a button to transfer the mortgage money. Was nearly 4pm before they did it after increasingly panicked phone calls to our solicitor and estate agent.

Your solicitor should confirm when the money has transferred , then you collect keys from the estate agent.

Roselilly36 · 25/07/2023 14:42

should have been early given no chain, have you called your solicitor?

Yeah, it's probably a delay in transfer of funds. Our buyer had this and we didn't get out keys until 5pm!

Peony654 · 25/07/2023 14:49

I think the official time is 2pm. But I know people who’ve had to wait until 6/7pm

Twiglets1 · 25/07/2023 14:55

Phone the EA you are buying from who holds the keys - ask if they are able to release them yet.

jennyjones198080 · 25/07/2023 18:02

It will depend on the vendors solitons confirming receipt of funds.

estate agent won’t release until they are given the green light.

but I assume you have them now
