Help me resign a family bathroom!

Need some help regarding designing a family bathroom!

I’m moving into a new house and it only has a shower. As I have 2 toddlers, it won’t work for us so we want to get it redone (it’s probably in need of a refresh anyway to be honest!).

The bathroom measures 2.51m x 2.31m (8'3 x 7'7) and I’ve attached a picture of the floor plan to show where the door and window are.

My questions are:

  • do you think it’s possible to have a bath and a shower unit? Has anyone got any similar sized bathrooms they could share the layout of?
  • any good recs for places to get the bath, toilet etc?
  • any big errors to avoid from your experience?
  • any top tips?
  • any idea on how much it would cost? We are on the south coast

Any insight or wisdom would be soooo greatly appreciated!

Very similar in size/shape/layout to ours which I am in the process of redesigning!

Ours is 2.3m Wide x 2.5m Deep (so door to window)

This is our proposed rejig. At the moment we have a bath in the same place as shown, but the window is on the toilet wall. We're extending that way though so need to move the window in any case. Essentially what we've proposed is to move the sink to the opposite side and replace with a wetroom shower.

I think, if this is your forever home, absolutely have a separate shower if you have the space, so you can think about whether you will want to remove the bath in 10/12 years. Baths are essential for little ones, but now I have teenagers the bath is only ever used for the dogs. We are removing our bath (as we have a separate shower) to make room for fitted wall storage, as we seem to need lots of bathroom storage now we have teenagers. In short, its useful to think about how the space will change and evolve as the family's needs change.

@Moo2019 no problem! I did it myself - I have access to illustrator through work so I use it on my iPad when I get bored 😂sorry!

Our bathroom is the same as yours, had it done a couple of years ago. Still love it and it's very practical.
As you walk on on the left we have a walk in shower, next to it is the toilet, which can't hardly be seen from door.
Under the window we have a self standing bath, a small version.
The sink is as you walk on on the right, opposite the toilet.

@Bilboard that sounds perfect! Did you manage a full sized shower? One of my concerns is it will end up being too small. I’m happy to have a smaller bath as it’s mainly for my kids, but I would like a decent shower!
