Builders are asking me what I want, I don't flaming know. Please help me, if Ishow you some pics can someone advise the technical specifics??

Friend has simialr and thought must be compostie of some sort as look too perfect but they are actually wood, look v v nice but just not sure on upkeep of wood, also when we previously did our old house with wood sahses it was spendy as hell compared to everything else but that may have changed??

I definitely don't want UPVC (ideally) but what are the other options??

I thought you could get coloured aluminium like powder coated in a colour but appears I was looking at a US site when I saw this - also aluminium spendy at present apparently and long lead times

Is composite different to UPVC?? I kinda thought it was but then I've read some things saying it's basically the same but more expensive, also everything I've seen has a wood grain - why pretend something is wood when it's not. This just looks a bit naff to me. Sorry if you have this - eek!

Also if we want all coordinating doors, and garage doors and things slightly bespoke is wood going to be the only option - how bespoke could you go with composite or aluminium, not seen any doors for instance that look like these??

The pics show the exterior overallI would like - so white/ivory smooth render with green coloured windows and doors and garage door. And a couple of shots of the front door make up I'm thinking.

What is the style of house you have and what are the current windows?

For the style in your photo, I would say it would need to be wood. UPVC and composite will have heavier sections and applied gazing bars.

Hi @renovationheavenandhell [I think they're Residence 9 windows. We have the Residence 7 ones which are slightly more modern looking but they are both flush sash (i.e. they close into the frame not on top of it). They're PVC but R9 are sold as a timber replacement and can be finished with a kind of timber grain effect.

They are not a budget option but they're completely hassle free once they're in unlike timber (we get a lot of compliments about our windows which is nice as it was nearly 20k including 2 sets of patio doors). Where abouts are you? I can recommend the people that did ours if you're Surrey/SW London way.

Aluminium you can have sprayed to whatever colour you like, with a different exterior colour to the inside. The main picture above does look like wood.

I’d say the windows are pvc (good ones ). And the doors look to be wood.

as above the residence type ones , (there are others ) are really good now and it’s difficult to tell them from wood.

I'd say you could get the look you want from uPVC windows, but they'd have to be good ones with narrower frames and flush sashes (where the opening part fits into the frame instead of overlapping it - like the pics here (I'm not recommending this company, just using the photos to illustrate what I'm talking about): 11 stunning photos of flush sash windows | Emerald Windows (emeraldupvcwindows.com)

Incidentally, I've no idea how the algorithm chooses what picture to use on the preview, but on my post above I'm seeing a picture which is only on the page as a link to another story, and which shows windows which don't seem to be flush fitting. Kind of defeats the point. 😄

Our house looks a bit like that but our windows are glazed differently. Our windows are wood wrapped in aluminium and in pebble grey colour. The render is an off white. I've added a couple of pictures. We have just had it all done and it's lovely.
