Moving to Shortlands?

I am thinking of moving to Shortlands with my husband and two children (age 3 and 8) from Sydenham.

It seems like a beautiful, green, peaceful and safe place to live with great proximity to Beckenham and Bromley and good transport links.

Please let me know what it is like to live there? We are thinking of moving long term for the next 15-20 years.

I live just next to Shortlands (slightly more towards Hayes). It's a nice area with some lovely houses. Convenient for the shops in Bromley and close to Beckenham Place Park. The station doesn't get the fast trains to Victoria etc but seems quite well served and slightly cheaper as think it's just in zone 4. Some houses I would say are a long walk to transport.

Depending on your plans I'd check school catchments carefully. For secondary you are a bit in between. We moved closer to the Langley catchment in the end.
