Came from holiday to find next door has erected a huge 2 story shed or wooden cabin thing at bottom of garden. Think dormer style with front door window each side of door on ground floor and 2 upstairs windows.
We're all in a very modest x council style houses so not big wide gardens and this thing is nearly the full width.,,, (just to give you an idea that we are not talking big spaces )

Of course I can't know if it is above the permitted size for sure without measuring but looking from here it looks massive.

Nobody living in it and it's not hooked up to mains etc...

It's a bit frustrating though and illogically I feel overlooked (despite knowing it's empty)

Report your concerns to the council, let them come and take a look

Check the council planning portal. Ring and ask why it isn't on there..

Great idea ... just checked the planning portal and it's not on there....

You can build a fairly big summer house under permitted development without pp. I think up to 4m high if a certain type of roof.

If you are in England, check here https://interactive.planningportal.co.uk/mini-guide/outbuildings/0

But, one restriction is that if the building is within 2m of any boundary of the house, no part of it should be more than 2.5m in height. If it is, planning permission is required.

If you're unhappy about it, you need to report it to the Planning Enforcement team at your local Council.

We had a garden office built in bottom of garden. Company who build them day in day out stipulated that 2.5m high is maximum as was built couple of metres from our adjoining fence (and that’s 2.5m on lowest part of ground as well).

they also pointed out our neighbours wouldn’t be permitted as has a sky dish on the roof and is over 2.5m high (without planning permission).

when we put in planning for an extension, our local planning department were lovely when I phoned them to chat through our very early plans. Worth a call up to ask them what the rules are for your area. Least you’ll know either way
