Chief Rent Privately Redeemed By Neighbour

Hi all, was wondering if anyone had been in a similar situation?

There was a combined cheif rent on my house and 9 other properties, which a neighbour redeemed back in 1993.

It was held by one of those shell lease companies, who have sent me a copy of their agreement it was redeemed but neighbour being very unhelpful (wouldn't even let us have a copy of the redemption certificate! And was very suspiciousof me asking any questions about it)

This hasn't been updated on land registry and the cheif rent charge still shows on my title.

Now I am a bit confused as to where to go next. The certificate states "Company X hereby redeems to the Purchaser(s) the Rentcharge relating to the said Property".

I don't know whether this means it is redeemed or the neighbour now owns it?

The gov.uk department can't help as it was done privately, not sure where else to turn?

Can you ask the solicitor you used to buy the property? Surely it came up in searches?

It did, but as still valid to be paid for if demanded. It was only receiving a demand for the payment by mistake, that the old rent holder confirmed that it had been redeemed by the neighbour!

Will contact the solicitor:)
