Can’t decide!

looking at Isla from Sofa.com and Scarlett from M&S

if you have either of these I would love your thoughts. Or even better, photos..!

I have 3 sofas from sofa.com (including an Isla in blue velvet) and they are really comfortable and have survived 2 house moves. We bought them in 2014/2017 and they still look great. I would definitely look at sofa.com again, but all of ours were purchased before Mike Ashley bought them, so not sure if the quality is the same now.

I haven't owned an M&S sofa so can't compare!

I LOVE sofa.com - have a blue velvet armchair and an olive green corner sofa. Can’t compare with M&S as have never owned any of their sofas.

good luck in choosing…

Next sofas are even more comfy 😊

We have two lovely comfortable sofas from sofa.com. We've had them for about 12 years and they look great still. I think they might be Isla ones or something similar.

HUGanALPACA · 15/07/2023 23:53

All our sofas are from sofa.com.
so comfy - love them 😀

Sugarplumfury · 16/07/2023 00:05

Mines sofa.com and I still love it. It’s 8 years now and over the last year the cushions are looking rather flat and don’t plump up properly which I’m a bit sad about as apart from this the rest of it is wearing very well indeed.

No experience of Sofa.com sofas here, although we've been close to pulling the trigger on a number of occasions (have a drawer full of their fabric samples!), but we do have an M&S Dante velvet sofa in our kitchen.

It's about six years old and cost £2k so is comparable with Sofa.com price-wise. Compared to the Sweetpea and Willow sofa in the living room it's very comfortable and has worn well considering we have pets. Not quite as good quality as the Multiyorks we used to have or the Tetrads which were amazingly comfy, but it was made in the UK and represents good value for money imho. I'd definitely buy another.

We've got an Isla we've had for 7 years. I won't say it still looks brilliant as we have 2 small children and a cat who attacks it but that's not the sofas fault. It's incredibly comfortable - when we eventually are done with small children who smear things and replace it id absolutely get another from them.

DogUnderFoot · 16/07/2023 06:30

Sofa.com. Every time.

crew2022 · 16/07/2023 06:39

We've had two M&S sofas for about ten years. We chose them as they were incredibly comfortable and they still are.

I’ve got an Ercol sofa which is great. Was looking at a sofa from The Lounge Company when I was in Furniture Village recently. I’ve never heard of the brand, the salesperson said they were part of the Parker Knoll group, so I would expect them to be decent quality. The styles were more up to date, and prices reasonable. The had one similar to the Isla.

Thank you for the replies they are very helpful!

For those with Isla sofa...has anyone had the smart cotton fabric? We also have young children, so being able to wash them is appealing. But does it look good?

We've got smart cotton I think. I've never tried to wash them myself but have had them dry cleaned. Ours is dark so it's pretty good at hiding the stains! DH recently gave it a good clean with a brush and it came up well. TBH the most serious damage is all cat!

Iknowthis1 · 16/07/2023 10:05

My M&S sofa is about 8 years old. It has not been a success. The quality is very disappointing for the price. It's my first (and last) furniture purchase from them.

lionsleepstonight · 16/07/2023 10:42

How timely. I'm looking at the Isla (clay herringbone) but worried about the fabric durability. Also kicking myself as when I originally looked a couple of years ago I could get the 2.5 and loveseat for 2.5k and they're now 3.7k. Which feels an outrageous price.

pickyourown · 16/07/2023 22:05

sofa.com seems to be the winner. Thanks for the replies.
Now to choose a colour/fabric...

Mine too. Another vote for M&S.

I don't think you can beat M&S sofas for comfort though. We have two that we need to replace now after 12 years thanks to a puppy and we recently went out sofa testing. M& S sofas were so comfortable, better than all the others such as John Lewis. But I haven't tried sofa.com I'd just be wary if you can't sit on them before purchase.
