Hello!

We have recently purchase a house in a rural area. The top of the house is white and the bottom half is Cheshire brick (red).

I am undecided on whether the colour of the front door should be the same on the inside and out.

As you enter the house the hall is pretty much non existent and there are two internal doors either side and the stairs in front.the internal doors with be a wood or a white colour.

The front door is made from accoya and we are currently choosing a F&B green paint to match the French grey window frames.

So do we have the green door the same colour inside or out? I can't decide!!!

We do! Have a lovely bright green inside and out and it makes such a difference!

Can I ask what colour green you have gone for? I think ours has to have a grey tone to fit in with the French gray F&B.

We are having French Grey, satin finish, outside and white inside.

Mine is white inside and a colour outside. We stuck with classic white to maximise light in the small vestibule area. The door between the vestibule and inner hall is solid oak in a natural oiled finish (OSMO) on both sides.

F&B Pigeon is a grey toned green that would work with French Grey without being ‘matchy-matchy’

Thanks you. I chose this one last night (I do always change my mind though) so I'm glad you've said this!

Is it the same colour inside and out?

Sorry, it's Enchanted Eden and yes inside and out.

I was inspired by some of these images on Pinterest:

A whole board of them here: https://pin.it/734bqAc (if this works)

So I've just had a call from my builder and the person making the accoya doors won't use farrow and Ball because the paint is rubbish!

Any experience with this? Do I push for F&B?

Why not get a better quality paint mixed to match the F&B colour you want? I've heard lots of professional decorators don't like F&B due to the quality

PaperBlinds · 17/07/2023 14:50

I have heard this a lot too about F&B - i would get a match in the paint he wants to work with, which means if anything goes wrong he can't blame the paint. Will prob come in a lot cheaper too.

littlebumblebee1 · 18/07/2023 09:35

Thank you @pornyshroudofturin and @PaperBlinds.

It took me by surprise when they said F&B wasn't good quality and that they could match it. I was sceptical thinking if F&B was so easy to match then why is the paint so special. Ive gone with it though so fingers crossed.

I've chosen Treron for the front door, inside and out to match the French gray windows.

For the stable door I've gone for pointing, inside and out. Our boot room is safe green so I didn't want too many greens.

Thanks for the advice everyone x
