Robot Vacuum

Has anyone got a robot vacuum, and if so, are they actually any good?

I have to vac every night and all throughout the weekend with pet hairs, mud, food, hair and all the mess that comes with 3 DC under 5.

I was thinking about getting one just for ‘topping up’ my cleaning. We have various different types of flooring throughout and our hoover gets battered!

If so, what would you recommend for a large house?

We have one for just that reason- a eufy. It is great, but we still need to hoover properly ocassionally. We are about to move and are buying naother one so we have each floor done regularly (they don't do stairs)

Absolutely get one. Mine is a Roomba and spends about 30 minutes in each room which is way more than I would. I myself never vacuum; I just get my Roomba to clean.
Make sure you get a really good one that's suitable for pet hair.

Thanks for the replies.

@CanadianReader What size house do you have?
Do you have one for each floor or does it do the whole house?
Can it do stairs?
Which version do you have?
Does it actually clean the floors well?
What flooring do you have?

Sorry for lots of questions - The Roomba I can see has good reviews but isn’t cheap, so I want to make sure it’s worth it.

I've just looked at my history in my roomba app and my hoover has done 285 hours of hoovering since I bought it a couple of years ago. That is good value for money!

I love my Eufy, its just so easy to keep on top of the cleaning with minimal effort. We get the hoover out to do stairs and the occasional deep clean but not particularly often.

I have a Lefant off Amazon and I love it. It goes on offer quite a lot I got mine for £120 a couple months back. I have 3 cats and 2 kids and it's just used to top up clean as you say. I haven't actually been using it as much recently (Summer holidays so toys and clothes etc on the floor more than usual) but when I'm at work and my children are at school I time it to go round a couple of times then again in the evening. I have carpet, laminate and vinyl. It doesn't do the stairs but none of them do. I just carry it upstairs but would love a second one so I could clean down and up at the same time and not have to wait for it to charge in between.

I carry it to other floors. I avoided getting the self-emptying one because it's got a giant bin that it empties itself into and that would be awkward to move from floor to floor. I think mine is one of the 900 series. I didn't want to go cheap because it's not something I'll replace. I only get it to do carpets but it can do bare floors. I can do that myself. If you research them look for ones that mention pet hair.

Thanks all. The reviews are rubbish on Amazon 😞😞

Has anyone managed to get the £31 voucher discount? Not appearing for me

housethatbuiltme · 09/10/2024 16:50

We have one, we have used him maybe twice in 5 years more as a novelty to watch him go.

The actual hoovering is still done by Henry.

I love mine (“cheapest” roomba). I set it going in one room while I tackle the other and I feel like we’re a little team working together 😂😂😂.
its good for if I’m pushed for time - I do a quick pick up of stuff on the floor and set it going before I go out and the house just looks fresher when I return (even if the house is still a tip).
I do still use the normal hoover so I wouldn’t say it was a replacement for one.
