Looking for people who had difficult Southwark Building Control experience

Hi there, we went through hell with a Building Control officer at Southwark, just over 2.5 years ago.
We strongly felt she was targeting us and making it impossible for us to achieve the certificate we needed.
We recently discovered that she had 'been removed' from her position and have been advised that 'certain things' came to light which led to her removal.
We are keen to find others who may also have been prey to this officer's behaviour, as Southwark Council apparently doesn't want to make a big noise about it.
This officer's behaviour towards us led to me being hospitalised ad receiving 3 months of therapy and we lost more the £50,000 on the eventual sale of our home as a direct result of this officer's actions.
We think there may be many more Southwark residents who were also treated this way and we would love to hear from you.
Best, M

Can you do a freedom of information request on her dealings with her?
Although I suspect doing anything with the information would be a long expensive process.

Of course. We thought they had handled it. It's all dealt with now, but there has been a separate issue of treatment

Hi OP,

I’m so sorry to hear of your experience. I live in the same borough and have recently had works done - I was specifically advised AGAINST using the councils BC and paid extra for private.

This forum isn’t the most active (compared to those like AIBU), and then the chances of the active posters also being in Southwark seems quite slim. Have you considered asking on specific Southwark community forums such as East Dulwich Forum (there is a website and a FB group, both get good engagement).

Good luck.

Markyj · 06/07/2023 06:50

Hi @SELondonLurker and thank you for that. You're right, I didn't realise about this site.
I also noticed there were quite a few 'harsh' replies which have been deleted by the MNHQ.
What I went through was harrowing, and I now know that I was not the only one.
I might delete this post and will try your suggestions elsewhere.
Thanks again for your understanding and suggestions.
M

This is the work of a previously banned poster, so we're taking it down now.
