Buying house with public ROW? With diagram

DH and I have been searching for a house for ages, we’ve finally found one we really like but it has a public right of way going through it. The lane it is on is unadopted and we would own the section directly outside our house, then our neighbour would own the next bit. There is a footpath running down the lane off the road, which turns into a stile past the neighbours house where the Right of way continues.

What are opinions on this? We are not sure if it bothers us too much but if it’s likely to both other people we are worried about resale etc. Also we are unsure what responsibilities we would have as the land owners?

if the footpath is on the lane and not through your garden then it wouldn't bother me. from the picture it does not seem to impact your privacy or security.

so it is fine.

check what the rules are for maintenance of the lane. is that the only access for you & your neighbour?

Thank you the diagram 🙂

However it's not clear to me if the public ROW runs through your garden and if so how close or if it affects your security? It really depends and not a deal breaker under the right circumstances.

I'd be equally if not more concerned about living on an unadopted road, and would like to understand how services and utilities are maintained, who pays for repairs etc.
