Moss on roof

I had new gutters installed a few weeks ago and already they have a lot of moss in them. We have just had torrential rain and there were a good few chuncks of moss coming down the downpipes. I was going to let the builders clean the moss off with a jet washer but thought about it and changed my mind at the last minute. I thought I'd probably do more harm than good.

So what is the best way of dealing with it?

We just have 'hedgehogs' in our gutters on the side that gets mossy to trap thr stuff. We can remove and clean the lower ones ourselves and get someone with a long ladder (sometimes a window cleaner) to do the high ones occasionally.

Some of the treatments which are supposed to inhibit moss contain copper, which we reckon isn't a great idea for various reasons.

Look on YouTube for Partridge Exterior Cleaning. I love a bit of roof cleaning!

He gives full explanation about removing moss from roofs. Basically it's scraped off and a herbicide sprayed over.

You need to find someone who can do that type of work in your area.
