If you used an interior designer

Did you feel it was worth it?

I'm struggling with decisions on our home and our renovations haven't even started so wondering if an interior designer might be of use and wondering what others experiences have been.

And any tips to narrow down who to use etc

Yes and I wish we'd engaged her services much earlier.

If we'd had her on board when we were drawing the plans we'd have had a better design and saved some money on changing things.

What she brought was

  1. Advice on making the most of the space
  2. Effective design of storage
  3. A colour pallette for the house that left rooms feeling individual but still harmonious. Blues, greens & neutrals with oak flooring
  4. Suppliers of interesting tiles
  5. Introductions to fabricators & joiners as well as design work

Then there was the expected 3D visualisations, shopping lists, estimated costs etc.

We didn't, I used a 3d software to build the model and plan the space, but yeah, it takes a lot of dedication. If you aren't sure, maybe combine both: work on your own plan first, then contact a professional to see what changes they would suggest or how it could be improved
Software in question was https://interior-design3d.com/ but there are plenty of others
