Life when you save get enough then life happens and that money quickly goes ie COVID, wedding, holidays booked at last minute then trying to re save
We've been trying to get on housing market for years lost out on a few houses due to being out bid. I was in a social rented property for 7 years but that 7 years was hell with nightmare neighbours towards the end of last year we were considering a private rented place but ended up deciding on moving in with my mum to save money quickly to get a bigger deposit for a house. Plan was cause we get paid fortnightly one of our wages each would go away towards a deposit. We moved in Feb and so far no money has been put in due to mum wanting rent money (which was agreed and it's not much every fortnight) then wanting to up it due to her bills going up so far we are feeling it's not working out the way we planned or thought and think we are now starting to regret making this decision.
Yes moving away from the flat and the nightmare neighbour was a good thing for all our mental healths etc just the not seeing any progress in saving is a real downer.
We don't have council tax gas elec etc but still pay out for a few things ie phone bills storage monthly bus tickets then what we pay my mum so works out at £1000 a month we pay out far more than what we were before moving in

Anyone moved in with parents with good intentions and it's not worked out?

Any tips on saving and getting money put away for a deposit?

We are currently hoping to put some money away from the next 2 wages at least and looking into private renting and have put in another request to be housed within the social sector (Scotland)
Just feel drained and missing old life lol
