Any IVA advice

I'm after some advice as we are desperate to buy our rental property we have lived in for many years. We have a good deposit and both myself and partner are on combined income of 50k.

My partner completed his IVA in December but we can't seem to find a lender that will offer us a mortgage. This will mean moving home across town as there are no rentals near us and landlord wants to sell. Children have friends around and it's really making us so depressed keep getting knock backs.

Does anyone have any advice?

I’d recommend speaking to a mortgage broker. They know which lenders will be best suited to your circumstances (or be best placed to advice what you need to do to get over the hurdle - be it more time etc).

There are specialised lenders who will lend to people with bad credit (I understand he completed it, but I guess it hangs around).

Speaking to some brokers might at least get you names to approach.

Iirc someone on here mentioned having a bad debt based mortgage recently and it was quite a lot higher than existing rates, at least 2%.

If you are not in a financial position to buy it, could you offer him more rent which you could use from your savings as an incentive not to sell?

Thank you I will certainly consider offering more rent, until we are a better position to buy just hope he excepts.
