Scotchguarding a new sofa?

Looking at getting a new fabric sofa from DFS. (I know they get bad press but we have used them before with no issues).

We have always had leather but want fabric this time.

I know that with the scotchguarding you can pay to have it done by the shop but have read reviews saying they don’t do it properly. Can you save money by applying it yourself instead?

Don't know about DFS but when we bought our new sofa with Stainguard it came with a 5 year guarantee that mean they would come and get any stain out for us. Never actually claimed on it - don't have small children or pets though.

Lots of sofa companies prefer an insurance cover as scotch guard is quite toxic

thanks, will just opt for that then!
