Our door is awful but we are crap at any type of decor. Is there an easy way to paint door?

What is it made out if, is it wood or upvc?
Is it already painted?
I find a small foam roller gives a good finish to flat surfaces (it was brilliant for my kitchen units & a wooden cupboard) you will have to lightly sand the door to key the surface to give the new paint something to grip to.

Buy a decent paint like French alfresco or zinnser that is made for outdoor materials and use a sponge roller.
Zinnser paint needs no prep work and has amazing coverage. Limited colour range though.

If the surface is rough, you need to sand it down. After that, use a good primer and then paint using a roller for a smooth finish.

This is correct! Use Zinnser Exterior allcoat and a foam roller. You can have it made to any colour. It's not the cheapest but great for DIY'ers (like me)

You won't need the surface to be perfect at all and it doesn't need a primer. It gives a lovely finish.

You could use gloss or satin.
