Social housing application How long?

Hello,

Wondering if anyone with experience could help. I applied for social housing at the beginning of April and still haven’t heard anything.
On the website it says they will respond after 8 weeks but it also says do not contact them about your application as it will cause a delay.

Should I have heard from them by now?

Do I wait patiently until they do get back to me or should I contact them?

I would give them 12 weeks and then query it.

You may here from them after 8 weeks , you will end up on a list and maybe wait 8 years for a place though

Do you mean you applied to go on your local council's housing register? It might take a while for them to acknowledge your application and give you a bidding number but there's no harm in checking with them.

Thanks for your replies @Zebedee55 and @Turmerictolly yes, I meant the councils housing register. I thought they would have at least acknowledged the application by now but I think I’ll wait 12 weeks and then get in contact.
@Throwncrumbs yes I’ve read about the long wait so am expecting anything soon!

Hi! Yes, I sent my application in July and haven’t received any reply from them. Did they give you any band and put you on the waiting list or you are still waiting for them to acknowledge your application?

If you applied in July and haven’t heard anything then you need to follow it up. If you’re eligible to join the housing register they’ll give you a banding and tell you what size property you’re eligible for, and more information about allocations / how to bid if you’re in a choice-based lettings area.
