Alternative to a louvred door

We have a louvred door on our boiler cupboard. This was there when we moved in and I've always just accepted it as I presumed it was good to have some air flow getting in there. It is horrible though! I could replace it like with like but is there an alternative? It always feels a bit 70s

I'm the opposite as I quite like louvred doors and wanted to replace my airing cupboard door with one. They do appear a bit 70s as you say, but my house was built in 1970. Would you like it anymore if you painted it?
