We've just viewed a house we love and think we might put an offer in on but the ground floor layout is puzzling me a bit.
I think we'd turn the current dining room into a grown up snug and then maybe knock the kitchen and current lounge together to make a kitchen diner space too, could we fit in a seated area as well?

Also puzzling a bit over where we might put a utility, in the garage next to the house?

And finally we also would need a downstairs shower room (there isnt room upstairs to create an ensuite or additional bathroom) but there isn't room in the downstairs toilet to fit a shower so where might we put that? It's a lovely big floor plan but I'm finding that is making it harder to visualise.

Does anyone have any thoughts? Thank you very much!

Downstairs shower - pantry room that's next to toilet?
Open plan kitchen- diner makes sense. Have you tried any of the online tools like floorplanner, I've found it useful.

It looks obvious to me, pantry and toilet knock together to make shower room, take out utility from kitchen and knock kitchen and living room together to make a big space, and use half of garage one to make a big utility/ additional kitchen storage.

We put a utility room in the back of our garage. It is great but downside is we now don't have a full garage. However, yours looks like it's a double length garage? If so I'd use the back half for a utility and shower room. Or could use pantry for shower and then use back half of garage to extend kitchen and have utility area.

The front part of that garage is probably a shed rather than brick built garage so be careful expecting to use it as 'inside' accommodation.

if you like open plan and you have a big budget, then this might work.

S = shower joined to the existing loo

K = kitchen with a big island

D = dining area

L = living space

U = utility in the front half of the garage

St = study in the back garage (add a big window and good insulation). could also be a gym or guest bedroom if you prefer.

and the old dining room at the front would be the snug.

If you have a smaller budget / want to keep some walls, then there could be other options.
