Packing quotes

How soon did you get packing/moving quotes? Just found out our chain is complete. woohoo!! Just getting searches and surveys kicked off. Wondered if it's too soon for a quote for moving or not?

(Never bought and sold before as you can tell)

We started when we were getting close to exchange and agreeing a completion date - seemed a bit pointless without a completion date as we wouldn't know whether a removals firm had availability before then.

Quite a lot of them seem to want to come round to see your stuff or do a virtual viewing to give a quote. It wouldn't hurt to get two or three in with a quote to prepare, even if it does go up/they don't have availability. At least then you know what costs you are in for.

(In June 22, some of them wanted 2.5k to move a 2 bed flat 45 mins up the road!!!!)

Sorry, that should have read June 21. There was a massive shortage of lorry drivers in the country. One of them told me they had no availability for three months.

I'd be interested to hear everyone's quote range, as wo during if they have gone up since I last moved a couple of years ago.

Will be moving shortly but as no move date we've not looked for companies.

We just paid 2.9k to pack (one day) and move (another day) a 5 bed house 3 mins down the road

I should have said - in London

I'm paying £900 for two vans and four movers to move a three bed house about 4 miles, we're packing ourselves.

@Playgrind we paid around £2,200 a few weeks ago for a full packing service over two days (two packers first day, four Packers and lorry on completion day). This was moving 15 miles in London with a well regarded international packing company.
