Plastering

How much does plastering cost nowadays? The room is 3m x 4m in the South east.
Also, is it possible for a plasterer to patch up a room? 2/3 of the room has perfect plaster, but we removed some build in cupboards and it's needs doing where they were.

We def had some walls patched up by a plasterer. It was pre-covid, so pricing probably irrelevant now!

Yes if most of plaster is perfect they can remove bad plaster and feather it in. You won't be able able to tell once it's painted. You need to get 2 or 3 quotes. Try to get a recommendation.

Impossible to say based on your area/current demand etc.

Just get 2-3 quotes. See photos of their previous jobs.

Where is this part of the country where you can get not one, not two but three tradespeople to turn up and quote? I think I want to move there!

Yeah ok, that is a ruddy good point.

I'm currently getting a boiler fitted and can't get anyone out to quote on it.

One guy I finally managed to get out quoted £5.5K and another guy on the phone went...."Oh BIG job, at least £9k'.

If you haven’t already got the boiler, I used the Worcester website a couple of years ago where they send the request for quotes to local heating engineers and it actually worked really well, I got several quotes, picked the most professional sounding one and they did a good job.

Many thanks for the tip. I've actually tried this and got no response.

If you have any DIY skills plastering is really easy and inexpensive to do , but is messy and somewhat time consuming. I had several high ceilings falling down and I am now an expert. Lol. I recently replastered DS and DIL entire flat ( in 1 week). But it was back breaking ! For some crazy reason I actually love doing plastering (almost as much as painting).
I learned by watching a professional do it. Youtube would teach you everything you need!

Try going back to Worcester Bosch direct and let them know of your experience.

You might be surprised how suddenly some installers start getting back to you :)

Ive always thought it must be like cake decorating on a larger scale

Whataretalkingabout · 15/06/2023 22:07

Well ya, kinda like cake decorating, but with more icing and bigger blender! ;)
